Japanese encephalitis (JE) claims 3 more lives in Assam

Japanese encephalitis (JE) claimed three more lives in the state on Friday, even as six new cases were reported from different places. With these deaths, the overall death toll in the state due to JE this season has risen to 60.

GUWAHATI: Japanese encephalitis (JE) claimed three more lives in the state on Friday, even as six new cases were reported from different places. With these deaths, the overall death toll in the state due to JE this season has risen to 60. One death each was reported from the Tinsukia, Dima Hasao and Darrang districts.

On the other hand, the overall Japanese encephalitis caseload has risen to 335.

Of the six new cases, two were reported from the Morigaon district and one each from Bongaigaon, Darrang, Dima Hasao and Kamrup districts.

Assam's Health & Family Welfare Minister Keshab Minister had earlier informed that apart from various medical colleges and hospitals, treatment of JE cases has been started in the district civil hospitals as well.
