GUWAHATI: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday conducted search operations in two locations in the Barpeta district in connection with the Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) case. Jihadi literature used for imparting training and other incriminating documents were seized during the searches at the premises of arrested accused persons.
It may be mentioned that the case pertains to the busting of an active module of ABT, which is affiliated to the proscribed organization Al Qaeda in the Indian Sub-continent (AQIS). The module was operating in the Barpeta district under the leadership of a Bangladeshi national who had entered India illegally and was active in recruiting, training and motivating impressionable youth to join Jihadi outfits and work in 'Ansars' (sleeper cells module) for creating a base for AQIS.
