Jishnu Barua took over charge as the new Chief Secretary of Assam, from the outgoing Chief Secretary of the State

GUWAHATI: Jishnu Barua took over charge as the new Chief Secretary of Assam, from the outgoing Chief Secretary of the State, Kumar Sanjay Krishna, at the Chief Minister's Conference Hall in JanataBhawan at Dispur on Saturday. Barua is a 1988-batch IAS Officer of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre.

Speaking at the meeting held by the Secretariat Administration Department on the occasion, Barua asked all the officers to work in close coordination. He further said that he expects support and blessings from all.

Outgoing Chief Secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna reminisced his service days and said that he was fortunate to hold many important portfolios. He also thanked everyone for the help and cooperation extended to him during his tenure of 35 years. He appealed to all the officers to be sincere and dedicated in their work. An IAS Officer of the 1985 batch of the Assam-Meghalaya Cadre, he served as the Chief Secretary of Assam for the last 10 months.

On the other hand, incoming Chief Secretary JishnuBarua dwelled on his long association with Kumar Sanjay Krishna since their college days; and also threw light on Krishna's multifarious qualities. He also wished him for all his future endeavours.

Additional Chief Secretaries to the Government of Assam, V.S. Bhaskar, Maninder Singh, Paban Kumar Borthakur and SyedainAbbasi were also present on the occasion. Apart from a host of bureaucrats who attended the meeting, Deputy Commissioners from many districts joined it digitally, stated a release.
