GUWAHATI: Consumption of domestic liquid petroleum gas (LPG) has increased in many places in the North-Eastern region making the IndianOil Corporation Ltd (IndianOil) ramp up bottling capacity in the region by implementing night-shift operation at two of its major LPG bottling plants in North Guwahati and Silchar.

“Earlier, bottling in the LPG plants was carried out in two shifts starting from 6 am to 2 pm in the morning and from 2 pm to 10 pm in the evening. Now a third shift from 10 pm to 6 am has been introduced in two high capacity plants at North Guwahati and Silchar to further increase the availability of cooking LPG cylinders.” G. Ramesh, Chief General Manager & State head of IndianOil – AOD State Office said.

The IndianOil AOD State office looks after the marketing activities of IndianOil across the seven NE States.

Ramesh said since the ongoing nation-wide lockdown to prevent the spread of COVID 19 in increasing consumption of domestic LPG has gone up in many places, the IndianOil has started bottling 24 x 7 in two major bottling plants to be able to fulfill the demand. “We want our customers to stay at home and remain safe,” he said.

Refuting the reports and allegations about shortage LPG cylinders in the North East due to inadequate manpower in the bottling plants, Ramesh clarified that there was a momentary hitch in the delivery of LPG due to implementation of the odd – even rule which was sorted out immediately with the help of the police authorities.

“The LPG supply chain remains uninterrupted. It is expected that LPG availability will increase further with the night shift bottling having started at North Guwahati & Silchar Plants,” he said.

Ramesh informed that all customers of the multiple modes available could book an LPG refill from the comfort of their homes - through IVRS by calling 7670024365 (Assam) / 9089024365 (Rest of NE).

Cylinders can also be booked via WhatsApp by typing “REFILL” to 7588888824 from the registered mobile number. Refills can also be booked through the IndianOil ONE app which is available both on Google Playstore & Apple

Ramesh said that IOC has created multiple platforms to give feedback. Customers can use any of the following. URL www.iocl.com, toll free No. 1800-2333-555, the IndianOil One app, facebook page and the twitter handles - @IndianOilcl and @IOCL_Assam.

“All complaints lodged through these platforms are followed up and escalated stagewise as per an established protocol and it is a commitment to the customer that issues if any will be resolved within 7 days of logging in these platforms. Also, any complaints on safety can also be lodged via the toll free No. 1906”, on a 24x7 basis,” he said.

Ramesh, however, requested customers to book a cylinder only if it is absolutely necessary. “The LPG delivery boys are risking their lives just to deliver cylinders to the customers. They are subjected to unnecessary exposure in case a customer books for a refill before it is actually required and is unable to return an empty cylinder when the delivery boy arrives at his doorstep,” he said.
