Lower Subansiri Dam Project to be ready by March 2022: NHPC

GERUKAMUKH: It's now official: The Subansiri (Lower) Hydro Electric Project (SLHEP) shall be commissioned by March 2022.

This assurance was given to Union Secretary (Power) Sanjiv Nandan Sahai by the NHPC (National Hydroelectric Power Corporation) CMD (Commissioner & Managing Director), A.K. Singh at a review meeting of the project with the Central team led by Sahai here on Friday. The work on this project is being undertaken by the NHPC.

At the meeting, NHPC CMD Singh briefed the dignitaries about the various construction activities in the project and also the downstream river protection works undertaken.

The Union Secretary (Power) also visited the project sites and took stock of the progress of the ongoing construction activities. Representatives of major work contractors also briefed the Central team about the quantum of construction activities on individual fronts. He also inaugurated the restart of Power House works.

The Union Secretary (Power) asked the employees to work with maximum zeal to complete the project as per schedule.

The Central team also visited an exhibition organized by 'Farmer-Producer Companies' registered for livelihood interventions initiated by NHPC in the fields of piggery, sericulture and handloom. The visiting dignitaries appreciated the efforts and initiative of NHPC for the people living in the downstream areas.

Union Secretary (Power) Sanjiv Nandan Sahai was accompanied by Arunachal Pradesh Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar, NHPC CMD A.K. Singh, Union Joint Secretary (Hydro), Power Ministry Tanmay Kumar, Commissioner (Power), Government of Arunachal Pradesh, P.S. Lokhande and Director (Projects) NHPC Ratish Kumar, stated a release.
