Man giving contractors' list to ULFA arrested by Crime Branch of Guwahati Police

GUWAHATI: The Crime Branch of Guwahati Police arrested Tutu Bora, an ULFA linkman. Tutu was collecting names and addresses of contractors and sending them to the outfit over the years.

According to Guwahati Crime Branch Additional DCP Numal Mahatta, Tutu Bora (38) is the son of Late Tanuram Bora of Gormur in the Majuli district.

The ADCP said, "The police arrested Tutu earlier in 2010 for his alleged link with the ULFA in the Jorhat district. After his release from jail, he went to Pune and worked in private security services. He came to Majuli two years back. He came to Guwahati in June 2020 and joined a private security agency – Third Eye.

"Tutu has a link with senior ULFA leaders. Besides supplying clothes or dresses to the ULFA, he did attempt to recruit poor boys/girls for the ULFA. A preliminary investigation has found evidence of Tutu's role in Saraswati Das joining the ULFA. Sarawati Das hails from Uzan Bazar in Guwahati.

"On March 15, Dispur Police arrested ULFA linkman Amu Khan alias Firoj Khan. He hails from Manipur. The police filed a case (608/2022; U/S- 120( B)/ 121/ 124(A)/387 IPC, R/W section 13 UA(P) Act) for his alleged involvement with senior ULFA cadres for extortion and recruitment. A preliminary investigation has also found Tutu's link with Khan. Tutu keeps visiting the neighbouring districts of Kamrup (M) also for ULFA's work.

"Tutu also has a link with senior ULFA leader Ganesh Lahan. He (Tutu) admitted that Lahan sought the phone numbers of some road contractors working in Majuli and asked him to collect some boys/girls for recruitment into the ULFA. He also collected uniforms for them."
