Talking to the media today, the Chief Minister said, "We will watch the Covid-19 situation in the state. If the situation does not deteriorate, we will lift the night curfew and allow schools and colleges to take regular classes. Just wait till February 15. If the situation becomes normal, we can celebrate the Rongali Bihu in April freely."

The Chief Minister further said, "The government has already advertised for 50,000 posts in Education, Health and Home departments. The election processes are at various stages. We are trying to advertise for more posts this month. Our target is to recruit one lakh youths by May this year."

Regarding the Majuli bye-poll, the Chief Minister said, "The BJP will name its candidate for the bye-election shortly. I'm leaving for New Delhi tomorrow. The state BJP president Bhabesh Kalita will hold talks with our party allies here. We will send two names to the party high command to select one."

The Election Commission of India (ECI) will hold the Majuli bye-election on March 7 and declare the results on March 10. The Majuli LAC (Legislative Assembly Constituency) fell vacant after the election of the then Majuli MLA Sarbananda Sonowal to the Rajya Sabha.
