GUWAHATI: Tourism Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah today chaired a meeting between the officials of the Tourism department and medical representatives to boost the Health Tourism sector in the state.
The meeting deliberated on the possibilities of wooing patients from neighbouring countries like Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh and other Southeast Asian countries. Mallabaruah said that patients from abroad would get world-class treatment facilities at affordable cost in Assam's super speciality hospitals.
The meeting also highlighted specific medical branches specialized in various hospitals across the state to attract patients from these countries, he added. The meeting also discussed plans to organize road shows in the neighbouring countries to create awareness about the medical facilities available in Assam.
