GUWAHATI: For the first time in Assam, citizens will be able to resolve a number of land-related issues via the online mode. This service will be available for the public from October 2, 2021. The development has taken place following the initiative of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. The CM will launch this project under 'Mission Basundhara' on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.
Mentionably, the Revenue & Disaster Management Department is the nodal agency in this regard. Meanwhile, Department Minister Jogen Mohan told The Sentinel, "We are replacing the existing offline system. Several significant land-related services will be dealt with through the Internet. This online system will enable the public to seek redressal right from their homes. Earlier for such issues, the people had to physically report at the respective offices of the COs. "
Minister Mohan added, "Once the Department portal is launched on October 2, 2021, the citizens will be able to have a package of facilities including permissions for selling, partition and mutation of land among others."
He also made a significant remark regarding the entire process, "The masses will have to pay just one rupee for the service. It is mandatory upon the CO (Circle Officer)-Revenue concerned to ensure that each such application is disposed off within a week's time. And, if the applicant's documents are in place, then the CO concerned must also grant permission within the stipulated time period."
Mentionably, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma directed the COs to ensure that all land-related issues are speedily resolved during a meeting with officials recently.
Minister Mohan further pointed, "The COs have been also asked to conduct 'Rajah Adalats' at the village level. Such 'Rajah Adalats' will endeavour to solve the land-related issues at the ground level in the presence of the GBs (Gaon Burahs) and the residents of the respective hamlets.
