GUWAHATI: The State Government is going to provide Rs 2 lakh each to one lakh youths for their self-employment under the Mukhya Mantri Sva-Niyojan Mission (MMSNM). The State Government has allocated Rs 1,000 crore for missions in this financial year. The mission will be of three years.
The Finance Department is holding talks with various other departments and preparing the guidelines for the mission according to the responses from the departments. Finance Minister Ajanta Neog reviewed the progress of the implementation of the mission with senior officials of the Finance Department recently.
According to sources in the Finance Department, the mission is to create self-employment in the private sector. The Government has decided to implement a scheme to promote micro-entrepreneurs for creating self-employment opportunities among unemployed youths belonging to BPL families and low-income households.
Income generating activities such as trading, manufacturing, service, food processing, handloom, handicraft, agriculture, and allied activities such as animal husbandry, fishery, and dairy will be supported under this scheme.
The total investment under this initiative will be Rs 5,000 crore over the next three years, with the potential to transform unemployed youths into job creators.
