Nagaon Medical College and Hospital gets NMC approval

GUWAHATI: The NMC (National Medical Council) gave approval to the beginning of the academic session in the Nagaon Medical College and Hospital (NMCH) today.

With this, the state now has eleven medical colleges that have gotten approval from the CMC to offer classes. The number of annual MBBS seats in the state has now risen to 1,400. An NMC team inspected the medical college on Wednesday. The medical college will have 100 MBBS seats in the current academic session.

Elated at the approval from NMC, state Health Minister Keshab Mahanta said, “The farsightedness of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has enabled Assam to make strides in the health sector. We are inching towards our target of completing 24 medical colleges in the state by 2026.”
