NEW DELHI: The National Hydro Power Corporation (NHPC) is all set to resume its work in 2000 megawatt lower Subansiri Hydro power project.
“All materials, engineers, field staff are already there and once the water level recede, the work for the dam will be resumed,” said NHPC CMD Balraj Joshi told The Sentinel.
Recently, the National Green Tribunal (NGT) has given go ahead to the project by approving the three member expert committee.
“The project will be commissioned within four years after restart of the work,” said Joshi.
He said that the project has already cost Rs 10,000 crore.
Referring to the 2,880 MW Dibang multi-purpose project, Joshi said that the NHPC will start its work at the earliest.
“It will help in mitigating the flood problem of Assam and neighbouring region,” said Joshi. Recently, Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has accorded approval for the expenditure on pre investment activities and various other clearances for 2880 MW Dibang project amounting to Rs 1,600 crore.
