What is Olympic

The Greece in 776 BC through 393 AD the games of ancient Greece were staged. The Olympics returned after 1503 years. The Olympic games of Greece took a modern form and the first modern Olympics took place in Athens ,Greece , in the year 1896. The founder or the man who generated the idea of Olympics was a Frenchman named baron Pierre de Coubertin. It was presented in the year 1894.

The term Olympic has derived from the word ‘Olympia’.

THE GAMES

Zeus the father of the Greek gods and goddesses was honored in the religious form of worship. The Olympic Games were a part of such a ritual. A rural sanctuary site, the games were held in Olympia in the western Pelopnnesos.


There was a sharing of the same religious belief and language spoken was also same thus the advent of Olympic shared the same sentiments and beliefs. Male citizens were the athletes. The team that will travel to the French Capital in the Paris 2024 Olympic will be a contingent of 29 members comprising of 11 women and 18 men from Athletics. The team of shooting will be 21 and Hockey will be 19.

Six people from Wrestling , Six from Archery , Boxing will also have six people. Four people from Golf, three people from tennis, two people from swimming, two from sailing. one each for equestrian, judo ,rowing, and weightlifting

Today on 23rd July 2024 the President of International Olympic Committee delivered a very powerful message. Flagbearer of the Refugee Olympic Team

The opening ceremony of the Olympic Games Paris 2024 will be hoisted by carrying Olympic Flag on behalf of International Olympic Committee. The two athletes of the Refugee Olympic Team are boxer Cindy Ngamba and Taekwondo Athlete Yaha Al-Ghotany will be the flagbearers of Olympic Games Paris 2024. The announcement to such names of flagbearers was given during the 142nd IOC Session in Paris.

37 Athletes living in 15 countries and competing in 12 sports is what the Refugee Olympic Team comprised of as members There is a reflection of growing Refugees globally indicates the participation of Refugee Olympic Team is the largest in number for Paris 2024. The increased wars and persecution and conflict who flee their homes has taken the numbers into 100 million in the team representation of Paris.

The funding is done by Olympic Solidarity to the Athletes from Refugee Athlete Scholarship. Olympic Refugee Foundation manages the support Programme of the Team. It supports hundreds and thousands of young people in sport affected by displacement in communities.

694 shots were made in the woman's ranking yesterday by Lim Sihyeon of Republic of Korea. Her score had a breaking record of of both women's team and mixed team in Olympic records.

Women's Football and Women's Handball with Canada and France winning. The USWNT(United States women's national soccer team) also had a good kick-start in football.

Shooter Swapnil Kusale has clinched the bronze medal in the men's 50m rifle 3 positions final held at the National Shooting Center in Châteauroux on Thursday.

The 29-year-old from Kambalwadi village near Kolhapur in Maharashtra finished in third place with 195 in standing after 156.8 in the prone and 153.3 in the kneeling rounds.

By doing so, he has etched his name in history by becoming the first Indian shooter to win an Olympic medal in the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions event.

Novak Djokovic's Quest For Olympic Glory Jeopardized Due To Injury

Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic's bid for Olympic gold could come to an abrupt end as the uncertainty over his further participating in the ongoing Paris Olympics looms large due to a knee injury.

Manu shot 294 in the precision stage of the qualifiers and followed that up with an emphatic 296 in the rapid stage. She thus finished with a total score of 590 out of a possible 600.

Indian Men's Hockey Team To Face Germany In Semi-Finals

The Indian men's hockey team led by skipper Harmanpreet Singh will take on world champions Germany in an exciting semi-final clash in Paris.

India and Germany have played 18 matches against each other so far with India leading the head to head 8-6. 4 matches have finished in draws. 

India, who had clinched the bronze medal in Tokyo 2020 by beating the same opponent, will be looking to seal their berth in the final after 44 years.

Manu Bhaker Selected As India's Flag-Bearer For The Closing Ceremony

Star shooter Manu Bhaker has been chosen as India's flag-bearer for the closing ceremony of the Paris Olympics 2024.

Manu expressed her gratitude and said she was honoured to be given the responsibility.

She scripted history by winning two Olympic medals in a single edition of the Olympics. The 22-year-old shooter from Haryana joined an elite list including PV Sindhu and Norman Pritchard to have secured two medals in the Olympics.

The closing ceremony of the Paris Olympics 2024 will be held on August 11, Sunday.

India's badminton sensation Lakshya Sen will battle it out against Lee Zii Jia of Malaysia for the bronze medal today in the men's singles event.

India's golden boy and Tokyo Gold medalist Neeraj Chopra stormed into the finals of the men's javelin event after his first attempt, which also happened to be his season-best effort.

Neeraj's throw was clocked at an impressive 89.34m as the reigning Olympic champion spent just 10 minutes on the field at the Stade de France on Tuesday.

Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat has made it to the quarter-finals of the women's 50kg category on Tuesday.

She caused a major upset by beating defending champion Yui Susaki of Japan 3-2 in the Round of 16.

Vinesh Phogat, who is riding high on confidence after beating defending champion Yui Susaki in the previous round, knocked out Oksana Livach of Ukraine to seal her berth in the semi-finals of the women's 50kg category on Tuesday.

The Indian wrestler won by a scoreline of 7-5 to get one step close at a podium finish.

Phogat will face Cuba's Yusneylys Guzman in the semi-finals today.

Vinesh Phogat Disqualified Due To Overweight 

Vinesh Phogat has been disqualified from the Paris Olympics after she could not make the weight on the morning of her 50 kg gold medal bout.

As per sources, wrestler was roughly 100 grams over the permissible limits, which could lead to her disqualification. According to competition rules, Phogat will not be eligible even for a silver medal and the 50 kg will have just gold and bronze medal winners.

Manu Bhaker Receives Hero Welcome After Landing In India

India's shooting sensation Manu Bhaker received a rousing welcome after landing in India on Wednesday.

She was welcomed by hundreds of supporters and her family, who braved a steady drizzle to give her a memorable reception in New Delhi.

The 22-year-old Bhaker won a bronze each in the women's 10m air pistol and 10m air pistol mixed team event -- where she had paired with Sarabjot Singh -- to script Olympic history for the country.

Vinesh Phogat hospitalised due to dehydration after Olympic disqualification

Wrestler Vinesh Phogat was hospitalised on August 7 in Paris just minutes after she was disqualified from the women's 50kg final at the Paris Olympics. 

As per sources, the Olympian fainted due to dehydration. Phogat was disqualified as she was 150 grams overweight during the weigh-in on the second day of the competition.

Currently, Vinesh is in the polyclinic of the Olympic Village, where she is stable and resting. 

Antim Panghal Loses In Wrestling 

Antim Panghal lost her opening bout against Zeynep Yetgil of Turkey in the round of 16 of the women's freestyle 53kg event.

Despite the defeat with a final score of 0-10, Panghal's campaign at Paris 2024 isn't over yet.

She still has a chance to compete in the repechage round if Yetgil advances to the final.

Archana Kamath’s 3-1 win against Shan Xiaona was India’s saving grace in the match with the other three matches ending in losses.

All eyes will be focused on Aman Sehrawat as the Indian wrestler will battle it out for the bronze medal in the men’s 57kg wrestling category.

Aman started-off well in this tournament by emerging victorious in his first two bouts owing to technical superiority but he was eventually knocked out by Japan's Rei Higuchi in the semi-finals.

Wrestler Reetika Hooda Defeated In Quarter-finals

Indian wrestler Reetika Hooda lost to top seed Aiperi Medet Kyzy of Kyrgyzstan in quarterfinals of Women's 76kg event at Paris Olympics.

This comes after Reetika defeated Hungary's Bernadett Nagy in the Round of 16. Reetika will now have to rely on the repechage round to win a medal.
