GUWAHATI: "Our united fight will defeat the 'Mahajoot'," proclaimed leaders of the BJP-AGP-UPPL alliance during a joint press meet here on Sunday. Further appealing to the grassroots party members, the leaders added, "Bury all differences revolving around the seat-sharing strategies among us."
On the occasion, BJP State president Ranjeet Dass said, "The masses are with us, and want the alliance to form the government once again. This is because we fulfilled all our promises. To meet the target of 100-plus seats, we will have to also ensure the victory of alliance partners. This will be possible when all the members of the alliance work together."
AGP (Asom Gana Parishad) president Atul Bora, "Our alliance will ensure further development of the people in the State. The masses will support our alliance candidates."
Justifying the denial of party ticket to one of the founder leaders of AGP and former Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, Bora said, "The party was not strong at his seat in Barhampur. Besides, he was not in contact with us after the last Lok Sabha elections when he refrained from exercising his democratic rights during the polls."
UPPL (United People's Party-Liberal) president Pramod Boro said, "Our alliance will win. We will ensure the all-round development, peace and progress of the people in the BTR (Bodoland Territorial Region).
While the AGP will contest in 26 seats, the UPPL will fight for eight others.
