GUWAHATI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi advised the ministers of Assam to dedicate themselves to the development of the state. Modi appealed to the ministers to serve the people of the state wholeheartedly.

The Prime Minister had a one-and-a-half-hour-long interaction with the state ministers in a homely atmosphere at the State Guest House in Guwahati on Tuesday evening.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “It was a rare privilege for my Cabinet colleagues to have an opportunity to get ‘marg darshan’ from the Prime Minister.”

The Chief Minister said that the Prime Minister planted a sapling in the State Guest House. He said, “This is symbolic of the PM’s reiteration of the idea of continued peace and progress in the region.”

Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah said, “We discussed the views along with the overall development of the state. I feel proud to be on the same stage with the most influential Prime Minister. We were amazed to hear his colourful experience from leading a problematic state like Gujarat to becoming the Prime Minister.”

Minister Ranoj Pegu said that they (the ministers) could learn many things from the Prime Minister during the interaction. The Prime Minister’s interaction with the ministers of Assam to know details regarding the state is reflective of his love for the state, Pegu said.

Minister Pijush Hazarika said, “It was a privilege for us to receive the best wishes, some inspiring words, visionary thoughts, and suggestions from the Prime Minister.”

According to sources, the meeting also took stock of some flagship projects going on in the state. The Prime Minister shared his experience in bailing out once trouble-torn Gujarat and putting it on the development trajectory.
