Police Recruitment Exam: CID grills 22 people for fake computer certificates

GUWAHATI: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) summoned 100 people today for verification of certificates in case no. 5/2022 involving the detection of 414 fake computer certificates submitted by candidates during the recruitment to the Armed Branch (AB)-Unarmed Branch (UB) of Assam Police.

According to sources, out of the 100 people, 22 were grilled by the CID today. Some of them are likely to be arrested soon. Among the 22 who were questioned, 20 are candidates who had appeared in the recruitment exam and two are trainers of computer institutes which had issued fake certificates.

The recruitment exam of Assam Police was held on February 20, February 27 and April 24 this year. The Assam Police expressed doubt over the genuineness of the computer certificates submitted by 414 candidates. The CID, Assam Police registered a case (5/2022) and carried out an investigation. Summons were issued to the candidates who had allegedly submitted fake computer certificates. The CID also conducted raids in computer institutes in Bongaigaon, Dhubri, Barpeta, Nalbari, Nagaon, Jorhat and Sivasagar districts, which had issued the fake certificates.
