Regional committee visits Assam-Meghalaya border

GUWAHATI: A regional committee each of Assam and Meghalaya jointly visited the Kanduli area in the West Karbi Anglong district of Assam and the West Jaintia Hill district of Meghalaya today.

The two state governments formed regional committees for joint visits to disputed interstate borders and submitted their reports to their respective chief ministers. In today’s visit, the Assam team was led by Parliamentary Affairs, Information, and Public Relations Minister Pijush Hazarika and the Meghalaya team by Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar. Both teams interacted with the people of the bordering areas and organisations. They expressed their hope for resolving the disputes.

The two regional committees will pay another visit to the disputed areas in West Karbi Anglong and West Jaintia Hill districts.
