SILCHAR: An NIA team picked up four persons from the Cachar district in a case related to the ferrying of Rohingyas from Bangladesh to India. The sleuths arrested the four from Khlema Part 7 in the Katigorah area in Cachar. The NIA identified the four as Shah Alom Laskar, Jamal Uddin Chowdhury and two siblings, Bapan Ahmed Chowdhury and Ali Ahmed Chowdhury.

The NIA recently busted a gang in Bangaluru for its alleged involvement in ferrying Rohingya Muslims from Bangladesh via the Tripura border. The mastermind of the gang, Kumkum Ahmed Chowdhury, now under NIA interrogation, hinted that the racket had its net spread in Cachar.

Sources said that the gang supplies forged documents like PAN and Aadhaar cards to the Rohingyas who illegally cross the border to enter first in Tripura and then Assam.
