GUWAHATI: The Assam Legislative Assembly (ALA) Secretariat will have a coordination cell for its smooth and effective functioning. The cell will work round the clock.

Barring Assembly sessions, the Assembly Secretariat has working hours from 9.30 am to 5 pm now.

According to a notification issued by the Assam Assembly Secretariat with approval from Speaker Biswajit Daimary, there will be a coordination cell to work 24X7 in the Assembly Secretariat so that no issue is left unattended, even on holidays.

The notification also said that all employees, irrespective of their ranks, should attend office by wearing a uniform. The Assembly Secretariat will provide two sets of uniforms free of cost yearly. Uniforms are mandatory in the Assembly Secretariat for grade IV staff only now.

Apart from the coordination cell, the official staff of the Assembly Secretariat will also have shifting duties (not exceeding eight hours a day) from 9 am to 8 pm on all working days.

The Assembly Secretariat has formed a five-member committee for implementing shifting and round-the-clock duty. It has constituted a six-member committee to implement the uniform norm. These two committees will report to the Speaker by October 12 on how they will implement shifting duty, 24X7 duty and uniform.
