Sahitya Akademi Awards 2022 to 6 writers from Assam

GUWAHATI: Six writers from Assam got Sahitya Akademi Awards-2022 – three got it for their own works, and three others got Sahitya Akademi Prizes for their translation works.

While litterateur-journalist Manoj Kumar Goswami got the award for his short story collection, Bhool Satya, Bodo writer Rashmi Choudhury got the award for her poetry collection Sansrini Modira and KB Nepali got the award for his drama Saina. While Prof Juri Dutta got a translation prize for Kocharethi: Araya Nari of Malayalam novelist Narayan's Kocharethi, Bodo writer Raja Devojit Basumatary for the translation work Kabuliwalani Bengali Biji of Bengali novelist Sushmita Bandopadhyay's Kabuliwalar Bangali Bou and Purna Kumar Sarmah for his translation of Assamese novelist Purabi Bormudoi's Shantankulanandan into Nepali.

Each of the Sahitya Akademi Awards carries a casket containing an engraved copper plaque, a shawl and Rs 1 lakh. A translation prize carries Rs 50,000 and a copper plaque. The Sahitya Akademi will give away the awards later.
