GUWAHATI: Storms have lashed many areas in the state for the past few days, causing damage to houses. Taking that into view, the State Government has asked the deputy commissioners to upload in the government portal the reports of damaged property in their respective districts within 48 hours. This will enable the government to extend financial assistance to the affected people.

Speaking to The Sentinel, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Jogen Mohan said, “It has come to our attention that storms have damaged the houses of some people in the state. The SDRF (State Disaster Response Fund) has provisions for financial assistance for the rehabilitation of the affected people. We have also noticed that a section of deputy commissioners sends reports of property damage to the government very late. We have instructed the deputy commissioners to collect the reports of property damage from the revenue circle offices and upload them on the government portal within 48 hours. The deputy commissioners should also send the proposals of the affected people for financial assistance for their damaged property. Earlier, the amount of assistance for a fully damaged house was Rs 95,100. The revised rate is now Rs 1.02 lakh. The revised rate for a partially damaged house is Rs 5,000, up from Rs 3,200 earlier. We will pay the money to the affected people at the enhanced rate through the DBT mode.”
