GUWAHATI:State DGP GP Singh has recommended to the State Government to hand over the investigation into the death of SI Junmoni Rabha to the CBI, honouring the public sentiment and for the sake of a neutral investigation.
Talking to the media here today, the DGP said, "After a review, I have decided to recommend to the State Government to hand over the investigation into the death of SI Junmoni Rabha to the CBI on two grounds: the public sentiment and the loss of life that police officials deem appropriate to be investigated by a neutral agency."
He, however, said, "My recommendation to the State Government to hand over the investigation to the CBI doesn’t in any way question the professional capability of the CID, Assam. I have great regard for the capability of the State CID."
