Sonowal lays foundation for Cultural Bhawan at Rabindranath Tagore University in Hojai

Sonowal also inaugurated the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Indoor Stadium in Hojai and dedicated the Neelbagan-Hojai Road to the service of the nation.

GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Sunday laid the foundation stone of the Cultural Bhawan of Rabindranath Tagore University in Hojai.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Sonowal said that the university has been established in the name of the great litterateur Rabindranath Tagore who illuminated the social, cultural and literary lives of the country and helped the people to go forward. He also said that Rabindranath Tagore spread the message of humanity and called upon the students to go forward adhering to the principles of the litterateur.

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal also hailed Hojai College which was established way back in 1964. He also said that the youths of the country possess immense potential. It is the duty of the government and other conscientious citizens to create a conducive environment for the youths to utilize their inherent talents. He, at the same time, advised the student community to work hard and make a good use of their potentials and skills.

He also said that the State government has been working very hard to transform Assam into one of the top performing States of the country. He urged the students of Rabindranath Tagore University to study hard and lend their contributions to stimulate to forward march of the State.

University Vice Chancellor Dr Amalendu Chakrabarty gave the welcome address in the programme attended by MLA Shiladitya Dev, Hojai Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Police and a host of other dignitaries.

Later, Chief Minister Sonowal also inaugurated the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Indoor Stadium in Hojai and paid rich tributes to the freedom fighter. He also dedicated the Neelbagan-Hojai Road constructed under 'Central Road Fund 2016-17' to the service of the nation, stated a release.
