GUWAHATI: The stage is set for conducting the second phase of the BTC (Bodoland Territorial Council) polls in Kokrajhar and Chirang even as the ballot boxes of the first-phase BTC polls, held on December 7, have been secured within five strong rooms in Udalguri and Baksa of BTR (Bodoland Territorial Region). These ballot boxes will be taken to the counting hall at 8 am on December 12.

Meanwhile, campaigning for the second and last phase of the BTC polls concluded today.

Talking to The Sentinel, Secretary of the Assam State Election Commission Pranjit Gogoi said, "Security forces have been deployed in the strong room campuses under the supervision of the Assam Police. CCTV (Close Circuit Television) cameras have been also installed there."

He added, "The first-phase BTC polls were conducted peacefully. There will be no repolling. The Commission is preparing for the second phase of the polls on December 10 (Thursday). The polling personnel will reach the respective polling stations on Wednesday."
