TAMULPUR/ BARPETA: Tamulpur will be declared a district before August 15 and the Deputy Commissioner would hoist the flag in Tamulpur on August 15. This was announced by Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma while campaigning for the BJP-AGP-GSP backed and United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) party nominee Leho Ram Boro in Tamulpur Assembly constituency on Wednesday.

Addressing the gathering, Sarma also said that this time there would be a BJP-UPPL-GSP-AGP coalition government in the State.

Describing the schemes of the Narendra Modi-led BJP government, he said that the BJP government had been working for the welfare of the common people. So this time, the people would vote in favour of the BJP-UPPL-GSP-AGP alliance candidates of the State.

Sarma also said that if a BJP-led government was formed in the State again, it would give a loan exemption of Rs 12,000 crore taken by women from Vandhan Bank. Stating that the 'Orunodoi' scheme had not yet been implemented in the BTC, he added that the poor and middle class people in the BTC would get the same amount from now on. He also said that this time if a BJP-led coalition government was formed, it would employ one lakh unemployed people in 39 departments throughout the State within a year.

The Minister further said that in the last 15 years, the then government run by the BPF (Bodoland People's Front) did not give a single lease of land to the people of the BTC, adding that after the BTC election, the Pramod Bodo-led coalition government gave land lease to 5,000 people. He again committed to construct another bridge over the Pagldia River if the BJP-led coalition government came to power.

Among the dignitaries present in the rally were Prabhari for Tamulpur Constituency Ravi Negi, BTR executive member Ranendra Narzary, and government nominated member of BTC Hemanta Kumar Rabha.

BARPETA CORRESPONDENT ADDS: Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday took part in the election campaign on the sports field of Barpeta Vidyapith Higher Secondary School.

In his address, Sarma said that people have faith and hope on the BJP government. He urged the people of Barpeta LAC (Legislative Assembly Constituency) to vote for AGP (Asom Gana Parishad) candidate Gunindra Nath Das in the forthcoming Assam Legislative Assembly Election. In his address, he also stated that if the BJP was voted to power, among other promises the women self-help groups would be given financial aid of Rs. 1 lakh within first two years and Rs 2 lakh in the remaining three years. He further said that during the tenure of the BJP-led alliance government in the State, there had been all-round development in Assam. He added, "We want to uplift the deprived section of the society. The BJP will always stand by them."

AGP leader Atul Bora also expressed confidence that the BJP-led alliance would win the Barpeta seat.
