GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that only 28 percent of the Covid-19 vaccine eligible population in the state took the precautionary dose. With the anticipation of the fourth Covid-19 wave, the government will lay stress on the booster dose.
With the Covid wave relenting, a section of vaccine-eligible people have lost interest in taking the booster dose, the Chief Minister said. "Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi accorded importance on the precautionary dose at his interaction with all chief ministers today," he said.
The Chief Minister said that around 90 per cent of vaccine-eligible people in the state took the first and the second vaccine doses. He said that the latest Covid-19 variant occurring in the country spreads but does not become fatal if the patients do not have comorbidities.
