GUWAHATI: Election to the 36-member Tiwa Autonomous Council (TAC) will be held on December 17, 2020. The polling on ballot papers will be held from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm. All COVID-19 protocols will be strictly followed during the election processes. With the notification issued by the Assam State Election Commission on Tuesday, the 'Model Code of Conduct' came into force across TAC.

The Council comprises portions of four districts, namely Morigaon, Nagaon, Hojai, and Kamrup (M).

According to the schedule announced by the Commission, the last date to file nominations is November 25. Scrutiny of the nomination papers will be conducted on November 26; and the list of 'valid candidates' will be announced on the same day. The last date for withdrawal of candidature is November 28; and the list of contesting candidates will be published on the same day. Repolling, if any, will be held on November 18. Counting of votes will be held on December 19.

Altogether 4, 33, 194 will be exercising their right to franchise in 404 polling stations across the TAC. Of the total electorates, male voters are 2, 18,240; female voters are 2,14, 952; and two 'Third Gender' voters. The photo electoral rolls for the TAC has been already published, informed Commission sources.
