GUWAHATI: Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution and Environment, Forest & Climate Change Ashwini Kumar Choubey today inaugurated 50,000 MTs Modern Rail-linked Grand SILO at Changsari in the state.
He said, "It is a great initiative to build such a grand SILO in Assam for the storage of food grains and its sustainability."
Saying that 10 lakh metric tonne (LMT) food grains (paddy) will be procured in Assam in this KMS (Kharif Marketing Season) 2021-22, the Minister also assured to work closely with the State Government to give every possible assistance regarding food supply and distribution.
State Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Ranjeet Kumar Dass said that the MSP (Minimum Support Price) is provided to farmers to safeguard the farmers to a minimum profit for the harvest. He also said that Rs 1940 per quintal will be given to each farmer for the purchase of food grains in Assam.
MP Queen Oja said that it is a great privilege to have such a food grain SILO in Changsari, Assam that will prevent deterioration of foodgrains. "Such industry will improve employment to local people and boost the areas' development," she said.
