Will decimate business of FICN and fake gold in 30 days: DGP

GUWAHATI: DGP GP Singh assured the people of the state that the police would decimate the business of FICN (fake Indian currency notes) and fake gold in the state in the next 30 days.

Talking to newsmen here today, the DGP said, "Two issues—FICN and fake gold—came into the public domain. I assure the people of the state that the police will decimate the business of FICN and fake gold in the state in the next 30 days."

He said that the police arrested 71 people involved in the business of FICN and fake gold from various places in the state—eight from Biswanath; four each from Barpeta, Bongaigaon, Dhubri, and Karbi Anglong; ten each from Nagaon and Lakhimpur; 11 from Sonitpur; six from Morigaon; two from Udalguri; and one each from Baksa, Tamulpur, and Darrang; and nine from Kokrajhar—last night.

He said, "I shall be absolutely ruthless against any police officer found involved in any activity that is criminal in nature. The police headquarters will take ruthless action against any police officer found involved in criminal activities."

The DGP said, "I have sought a list of police officers of the rank of inspectors and above. Excluding officers connected with specialized agencies like CID, Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, and Special Branch, the rest of the officers who have been at any particular location for three years or more will be transferred within the next 48 hours."
