GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the government would try to declare the results of grade III and IV post examinations within a month, and the unsuccessful candidates would get their examination fees refunded.

The Chief Minister spoke to the media after attending the Mann Ki Baat programme of the Prime Minister at Kahikuchi on the outskirts of Guwahati. The Chief Minister said, "The government received over 14 lakh applications for grade III and IV examinations. And the number of candidates is around 9.34 lakh based on their unique identity. We will try to declare the results within a month and refund the examination fees of the unsuccessful candidates. We have the bank account numbers of the candidates with us."

Each of the general, OBC and MOBC candidates for grade III posts paid Rs 350 per application, and each of the SC and ST candidates for grade III posts paid Rs 250 as examination fees per application. For grade IV posts, the rates of fees are Rs 200 each per application for general, OBC and MOBC candidates and Rs 150 for SC and ST candidates.

It is the biggest-ever recruitment drive for grade III and IV posts in the government sector in the state.

The examination for fourth-grade posts took place on August 21 and that of third-grade posts on August 28. Another examination is on September 11.
