KOKRAJHAR: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asserted that peace, progress and protection make the very essence of the BJP's mission in Assam, including the BTR (Bodoland Territorial Region).
The Prime Minister addressed a mammoth gathering of the UPPL (United People's Party Liberal), BJP, AGP and the GSP at Green Field, Kokrajhar on Thursday. He said, "You're strengthening me day by day to serve you, and we'll work together for peace and development with the motto – Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikash and Sabka Vishwas. The BJP and allies have been fighting for the development of the State, and there is no force to defeat the 'double-engine government' in Assam."
In his second visit to Kokrajhar in a year, Modi said that the BJP had promised for peace and development of the BTR in 2016. "Accordingly, the BJP-led NDA government has been fulfilling its commitment which the Congress failed to do over the years," he said. Modi said that it had been the NDA government at the Centre that brought the BTC (Bodoland Territorial Council) Accord for the economic development, protection of language, culture and identity of the Bodos.
"The BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre has been working for all-round development of the BTR, and Rs. 1,500 crore has been sanctioned for its fast development," Modi said, and added, "Higher educational centres and technical institutions have come up in the BTR and many more are coming up."
He claimed that from Moran, Motak to tea community in Assam their problems were given due importance and heard, and the BJP has been giving security, dignity and protection of all communities of the State as well. The voters of Assam have shown red card to the Congress in the first phase of the Assembly poll, he said.
Recalling Bodofa UN Brahma and Gurudev Kalicharan Brahma, Modi said that the BJP-led coalition government will move forward towards the path of development taking all communities along. "Kokrajhar is known well for football across the country, but the Congress failed to take any policy to upgrade the sporting arena in the State," he said.
The Prime Minister said Bodofa UN Brahma Cultural Research Centre at Dotma will come up for remembering his ideology and principle along with many higher educational and technical institutions in BTR as promised.
Meanwhile, BTC Chief Executive Member Pramod Boro said that the people of the State and BTR areas were getting security and equal development under the BJP-led NDA government. Boro drew the attention of the Prime Minister that the BTR was having problems of militancy, mistrust and conflict among different sections of the society before Modi arrived in Kokrajhar, but after the BTR Accord, peace has prevailed and all people are coming together for peace and development.
Boro claimed that all the 12 candidates of UPPL and BJP will win the election in BTR and the BJP will form the next government at Dispur. He also hoped that the clauses of BTR Accord will be implemented in letter and spirit.
