GUWAHATI: A delegation of women from Naharkatia LAC (Legislative Assembly Constituency) handed over 2,000 handmade gamosas to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma at the Janata Bhawan on Tuesday. It was done as a token of love and gratitude for the measures taken by the State government to give relief to genuine women borrowers who took loan from MFIs (microfinance institutions). The delegation also presented him a letter of appreciation in this regard.

Humbly accepting the gift from the women, Chief Minister Sarma said that the government — true to its promise — gave due importance to the matter since coming to power. He expressed the view that the State government's move would provide the much-needed relief to the poor borrowers.

Naharkatia MLA Taranga Gogoi was also present during the visit of the delegation, stated a press release.
