DEMOW/ GAURISAGAR: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has said that the people of the State have already started witnessing the 'positive changes' which are the results of promises that the BJP -led government in Assam made in 2016. He said this while campaigning for the candidates of the BJP and its allies at Thowra, Amguri, Mariani, Titabar and Jorhat on Tuesday.

Speaking at a rally in Thowra for BJP candidate Kushal Duori, Sonowal said, "The misrule of the erstwhile Congress government led to despair, desperation among the people of the State living in valleys of the Barak, Brahmaputra, hills and plains. People were deprived of their rights and privileges. However, ever since the BJP-led government came to power, it took steps to allot land pattas to the local indigenous residents of the State."

Sonowal also said that as long as the BJP government remains in power, the future of the people of Assam would be secured. He also said that there has been a conspiracy hatched by the united force of the Congress and the AIUDF to malign the age-old amity of the people of the State. He also requested the people of Assam to help the BJP and its allies to counter the conspiracy for the benefits of the people of Assam.

He further said that the government would relentlessly pursue its policy in the coming times also. He expressed his confidence that because of its pro-people policies, the people would re-elect the BJP again.

On the other hand, in another rally organized for Amguri candidate from AGP — Pradip Hazarika, Sonowal termed the Congress-AIIDF alliance as unholy. He also claimed that Badruddin Ajmal would never be allowed to determine the future of the people of the State.
