She loves dancing, acting and reading and her favourite actor is Tapan Das (Assamese actor) and favourite actress is Seema Biswas of Bandit Queen fame. Fought Assam Elections once in 2016. Fighting Assam Elections for the second time. Angoorlata Deka is the sitting MLA from the No 84 Batadroba constituency in the 14th Assam Assembly.
Deka completed her HSLC exams from MNC Balika Mahavidyalaya, Nalbari in 2001 and from the same school she completed her HS in 2003 and went on to pursue graduation in Arts stream from Gauhati University in 2006.
Deka started her acting career in around 2006 with 'Aami Asomiya'. She played leading roles in Assamese films like Bakor Putek, Surjyasta etc. Besides acting, she has done some modelling as well as dancing, but it was not until 2015 that she thought about joining politics.
In 2015, Angoorlata Deka joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). She was given the ticket for the Batadroba constituency to contest the 2016 Assam Assembly polls. She won by 46,343 votes defeating Congress candidate Gautam Bora.
In the 2016 Assam elections, BJP gave tickets to only six women candidates. Only two of the candidates won the elections and Angoorlata Deka is one of them.
In 2019, Deka was appointed as the Vice Chairperson of Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra, Guwahati. She is still serving as the Vice Chairperson.
Deka has been renominated as the BJP candidate for the upcoming 15th Assam Assembly elections from the Batadroba constituency that goes to poll in Phase 1, voting for which would take place on 27 March.
