Bolin Chetia is born in Makum in the Tinsukia district of Assam on 16 July 1969. He is the son of Someswar Chetia, and Late Paneswari Chetia. Bolin Chetia married Shovalakhi Gogoi Chetia on 6 March 1996. Bolin Chetia- Sitting MLA from 124 Sadiya Constituency in Assam. Bolin Chetia contested for the Sadiya Assembly Constituency of Assam for the first time and defeated Jagadish Bhuyan a two time AGP MLA by 2794 votes.
Bolin Chetia is the sitting MLA of the 14th Assam Assembly from No 124 Sadiya constituency. Fought Assam Elections 3 times – 2006, 2011, 2016. Fighting Assam Elections for the 4th time.

In 2006, Bolin Chetia contested for the Sadiya Assembly Constituency of Assam for the first time and defeated Jagadish Bhuyan a two time AGP MLA by 2794 votes. In 2011, Bolin Chetia againt defeated AGP's Jagadish Bhuyan by 6867 votes. In 2016, Chetia received 6566 more votes than close rival Birinchi Neog of Congress (INC). He is the President of Makum MCC Club and the Founder President of Moran Student Union. Chetia is the President of Guwahati City Youth Congress and the General Secretary of APGE.
