Early Life-

Jayanta Khaund is a resident of Kari village located in Lakhimpur district of Assam. He is the son of Late DimbeswarKhaund. He is married to Junmoni Devi Khaund. The couple is blessed with two children named Nishanka Khaund and Ritisha Khaund.

Education

The politician did his Class X (Matric) fromGarehagaBahpati H.S school in 1964. He passed Class XII (Higher Secondary) in the year 1988 from TelahiKamalabonia College. He completed his BA from North Lakhimpur College in 1991.

Career and Politics-

In the 2011 Assam Assembly elections, Jayanta Khaund fought as an Independent candidate. He lost to Sanjay Raj Subbaof Indian National Congress party from Naoboicha constituency.

He joined hands with AGP in 2016 and fought against MamulImdadul Haque Chawdhury of AIUDF but lost again from Naoboicha constituency .

He is contesting the upcoming Assam Assembly elections from Naoboicha constituency on an AGP ticket.
