Jibon Chandra Bora is the son of Late Manik Bora and Aidhan borah. He is married to Basanti Borah. He is a resident of Rajabari, Bokakhat in Golaghat district. He is a government pensioner, and his spouse owns a roadside Dhaba at Rajabari. He is the President of Assam State Primary Teachers Association. He was a teacher in a government-run school.
He completed his Bachelor of Arts in 1988 from Jogananda Deva Satradhikar Goswami College, Bokakhat under Dibrugarh University.
Jibon Chandra Bora is contesting the election to the Assam State Legislative Assembly, 2021. He is an independent candidate contesting from Bokakhat constituency against the present MLA Atul Bora of the Assam Gana Parishad party. Bora is also the Assam Agriculture minister.
He has been working for the educational development of the youth.
Bora played a key role during the widespread protest in 2017 with regard to the regularization of jobs of Lower Primary school teachers, and the lack of amenities and infrastructure in the schools of the area.
There is no criminal case against him.
