Early Life:

PromodBorthakur is a resident of Kachgaon village in the Biswanath district of Assam. Son of Late JogenBorthakur and Late SwarnalataBorthakur, Pramod Borthakur is a Bharatiya Janata Party politician from Assam. He was born on 11 February 1964 at Biswanath Chariali. He is married to PallabiBorthakur who is a homemaker. The couple is blessed with a son.

Education:

Borthakur is a post-graduate from Gauhati University.

Career and Politics:

Before he ventured into the field of politics, he was a teacher of Economics at Biswanath High School. PromodBorthakur entered the world of politics in 2016 when he got the ticket to contest the Assam Assembly Elections that year on a BJP ticket. He was pitched against Nurjamal Sarkar of Congress and won the election. He would be contesting the 2021 Assembly polls from the same seat on a BJP ticket.

PromodBorthakur is also an active member of the Biswanath District Sports Association.

Teaching is a profession close to his heart. The MLA had taken classes in several schools in his constituency following the reopening of schools and colleges in Assam. As the students faced severe disruption during Covid 19 pandemic, he focused on helping the students and taught Social Studies to them.
