Rajib Lochan Pegu was born on 1st July 1960 at Jengraimukh. He is 60 years old. His father's name was Indreswar Pegu and his mother's name is Smti. Souni Pegu. His permanent address is Jengraimukh, Majuli, Jorhat. He got married in the year 1986 with Smti. Mrinali Pegu and is blessed with two sons named Bitupan Kankan Pegu and Mippun Kangkan Pegu. His hobbies are fishing, rafting, listening to music and reading books.

Education:

He is a Master of Arts in English Literature (1985) from Meerut University.

Career & Political Life:

In the 2016 Assembly elections, Rajib Lochan Pegu of INC lost to Sarbananda Sonowal of BJP. Rajib secured 30679 votes while Sonowal won with 49602 votes. In the 2011 Assembly election, Rajib Pegu of INC won with 39655 votes. In the 2006 Assembly elections, Rajib Lochan Pegu of INC won with 36773 votes. In the 2001 assembly elections, he won with 22608 votes. 

Fought Assam Elections four times – 2001, 2006, 2011, 2016. Fighting Assam Elections for the fifth time
