Early Life:

Ajit Singh, 50 years old, is a resident of Silchar in Cachar district of Assam. He is the son of Late Dwarika Prasad Singh. He is married to Kusum Singh

Education:

He is a Bachelor of Science from Guru Charan College Silchar, 1987 batch.

Career and Politics:

Ajit Singh fought the Assam Assembly elections 4 times – 2001, 2006, 2011 and 2016. He won the first three times and lost in 2016.

2001 Assam Assembly elections he contested on a Congress (INC) ticket from Udharbond and defeated Joy Prakash Tewari of BJP Party.

In the Assam Assembly elections of 2006, he defeated Kamalendu Bhattacharjee, an Independent candidate.

He won the Assam Assembly election in 2011 as well.

He lost the Assam Assembly elections of 2016 to Mihir Kanti Shomeof BJP party.

This is the fifth time he shall be contesting the Assam Elections. Ajit Singh will once again be contesting as an INC candidate from the Udharbond constituency.

The gross total value of his movable assets is estimated at Rs 64.29 lakhs and that of his immovable assets is Rs 1,01,40,000.
