Jakir Hussain Sikdar from Sarukhetri: Early Life, Controversy & Political Career

Early Life:

Jakir Hussain Sikdar is the son of Late Abdul Jalil Sikdar. He is 40 years old, resident of Kuriha village, Kayakuchi, Barpeta. He is married to Tehsin Akhtar Ahmed Quddus who is an actress and a singer.

Education:

1. H.S.L.C (Matric) passed from Hayakuchi H.S. School in 1996
2. H.S. (Sc.) passed from Kayakuchi H.S. School in 2000
3. B.A passed from Nabajyoti College, Kalgachia in 2014

Career and political Life:

He is the sitting MLA of Sarukhetri. He won the 2016 Assam Assembly elections on an Indian National Congress ticket. He had defeated Chittaranjan Barman of the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) by a vote margin of 24247. He won 70062 votes and Chittaranjan Barman secured 45815 votes. Hussain is contesting the elections for a second time on a Congress ticket to retain his Sarukhetri seat.
