Nirmal Langthasa is from Disgao Raji, Haflong from the district of Dima Hasao, Assam. He is 47 years old. His father was Late Gobinda Chandra Langthasa, the five-time MLA and 3-time Assam Minister during the Congress regime.

Nirmal Langthasa is a Bachelor of Arts from Kirorimal College under Delhi University.

Career and Politics:

In the 2016 Assam Assembly elections, Nirmal Langthasa of INC was defeated by Bir Bhadra Hagjer of BJP. Nirmal got 43,731 votes while Bir Bhadra won with 52,037 votes. He is contesting the Assam Assembly 2021 on an INC ticket from Halflong.
