Early Life

Rekibuddin Ahmed son of Late Mirjan Ali is about 46 years of age. He is a permanent resident of House No. 1, Idgah Road, in the district of Kamrup, Assam. He is married to Noori Ahmed. 

Education

He is Class 12 (Higher Secondary) pass in the year 1992 from B. Barooah College, Guwahati.

Career and Politics

Rekibbudin Ahmed is the sitting MLA from the Chaygaon Vidhan Sabha constituency. In the 2011 Assam Assembly election, he won the election on an INC ticket with 64,307 votes defeating AGP's Dr. Kamala Kanta Kalita who secured 48,714 votes. In the 2016 Assam Assembly elections he again beat Dr. Kamala Kanta Kalita bagging 72,211 votes compared to Kalita's 64,390 votes. The voter turnout for that year was 90.77 percent. 

Rekibbudin Ahmed will be contesting the 2021 Assam Assembly election on an INC ticket from the Chaygaon constituency.

According to the nomination filed with the Election Commission of India, his and his spouse's moveable assets are worth Rs. 70.58 lakhs and Rs. 7.23 lakhs and their immovable assets are worth Rs. 2.15 crore and Rs. 50 lakhs respectively.
