The place well known for its scenic beauty 'Rangapara' is a township under the Sonitpur district/region of Assam, India. People dwelling in this town use Assamese, Bodo, Bengali for communicating with one another. Assamese is regarded as an official language here. Rangapara is the 126th Assembly of the Assembly Constituencies of Assam. It also forms a part/structure of the Tezpur Lok Sabha/Parliamentary Constituency.

Rangapara is a township and a municipality in the Sonitpur district of Assam, India. Sonitpur is an authoritative district/region of Assam. The district/region headquarter is located at Tezpur. In consonance with Census India 2011, the district covers a geographical area of 308.12 hectares. In Sonitpur district/region, there are 7 Revenue Tehsils/Circles and 14 Community Development Blocks. Sonitpur, also known as ' the city of blood' region, is usually the third most populous region of Assam after Dhubri and Nagaon. It is the geographical pocket of Assam, with inhabitants of around 1,924,110 people. It is the home to the famous 'Nameri National Park'.The demographical history of Sonitpur region is not stable and undeviating. It is because many diverse ethnic, religious and linguistic communities reside in Sonitpur.

The Legislative/Assembly Election of Rangapara Constituency had 1,36,999 electors. Amongst them, the overall valid votes were 1,17,485. Before the Assembly/Legislative Election of Assam 2016, Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Pallab Lochan Das won the MLA seat, with 51,597 votes. The Indian National Congress candidate Bhimananda Tanti was the runner-up with 28,606 votes.

Prior to the 1996 and 2001 Assembly Elections of Assam, a candidate Bhimananda Tanti of the Indian National Congress had won the Assembly seat twice with 32,555 and 40,043 votes. In the 2006 Assembly Election of Assam, a candidate Abhijit Hazarika of Bharatiya Janata Party, won the election with 31,664 votes and became the MLA. Before, in the 2011 Assembly Election of Assam, the Indian National Congress candidate Bhimananda Tanti won the Assembly seat with 40,364 votes. Prior to the previous year election, a candidate Pallab Lochan Das of Bharatiya Janata Party won the MLA seat against Bhimananda Tanti with 51,597 votes. In the Assam Legislative Election of 2016, Pallab Lochan Das of Bharatiya Janata Party appeared as a winner of the MLA seat by securing 43.92% of votes. Bhimananda Tanti of the Indian National Congress was the runner up with 24.35% votes. A candidate from AIUDF named Bijoy Kumar Tiru, secured 11.3% votes and achieved the third position. A candidate from CPM named Royal Soreng secured in the fourth with 6.84% votes. While in the last position an IND candidate named Christopher Dhanwar with only 5.46%. The candidates of the last/previous (2016) election are Pallab Lochan Das of Bharatiya Janata Party, Bhimananda Tanti of the Indian National Congress, Bijoy Kumar Thru of AIUDF, Royal Soreng of CPM and Christopher Dhanwar of IND. The winner of the last/previous Election was Pallab Lochan Das of the Bharatiya Janata Party with 51,597 votes, whereas Christopher Dhanwar of IND has secured the last position with only 6,415 votes. Projects Announced in the run-up to the Elections for the Constituencies:

The Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi has launched 'Asom Mala' programme in Sonitpur district/region. Its main agenda/aim is to improve and manage the areas's basic infrastructures and look after the improvements of the State in various fields. In Biswanath Region of Sonitpur district/region, PM Narendra Modi and other Bharatiya Janata Party leaders have also inaugurated the premise of Hospitals and medical colleges. For the impending Assam Election 2021, all the political and regional parties have laid/given out their manifestos, and the present state government have already provided 2.5 lakhs with each to around 8000 Namgarhs which are near about 50-year-old. Further, they have also promised to extend benefits to other Namgarhs. The Chief Minister of Assam SarbanandaSonowal believes that people/public are with the Bharatiya Janata Party and ensures equitable growth of the Brahmaputra and Barak valleys.

The Indian National Congress leader, Rahul Gandhi revealed that if they win the forthcoming/upcoming polls, they will build an anti-CAA memorial. Not only Rahul Gandhi but also many INC leaders including MPs Gaurav Gogoi, Pradyut Bordoloi, APCC president Ripun Bora, Congress Legislative leader DebabrataSaikia have tweeted the same.

The AIUDF made manifestos regarding the non-implementation of CAA and promised that the parties agenda will always be 'to oppose the bill'. AIUDF also promises to safeguard the security/certainty of the minorities and deal with the issues of unauthorized emigrant in accordance to the guidelines of the Assam Treaty.

The parties like AJP and Raijor dal is to coordinate with the citizens of Assam irrespective of their native tongue, religion, caste, tribe etc. AJP and Raijor Dal are a regional party for the inhabitants of Assam so, it has come forward to give regional politics a new force. Both parties agenda is to break of the implementation/formation of CAA in Assam.
