BADARPUR is a town in the district of KARIMGANJ itself of the Indian State of Assam popularly known as Gateway to the Barak Valley. The district is surrounded by Barak River in the North, to the east is the Barail Hill Range and in the west are the villages and the paddy fields. The Badarpur Town Committee is the Governing Body with a population of 33,400 according to the 2011 census.

Badarpur is a town in Karimganj District of the 33 districts of Assam located 24 KM towards east from the headquarter. MLA Jamal Uddin Ahmed has recently expired on January leaving the place without an MLA. He had a considerate amount of devotion towards the people of Badarpur. A great social worker working for the people of his area. Ahmed had won three times from the Badarpur seat at first in 2001 with a ticket from Trinamool Congress and in 2011 and 2016 as a Congress candidate.
