Chenga is an Assembly Constituency and is situated in the Barpeta district. It is also a part of the Barpeta Lok Sabha Constituency. According to the 2011 census, Chenga has a total of 142845 population.
Chenga Assembly Constituency is one among the 126 Assembly Constituencies and it bears number 47. It falls under Barpeta Lok Sabha Constituency.
Chenga falls under the Barpeta Parliamentary Constituency. Abdul Khaleque of the Indian National Congress party won the Lok Sabha Election of 2019 with 645173 votes and defeated Kumar Deepak Das of the Asom Gana Parishad party who secured 504866 votes.
Chenga is a place in the Barpeta district. Barpeta is an administrative district in Lower Assam. The district headquarter is located in Barpeta. The district covers an area of 3245 km square. As per the census report released in 2011, most of the people in the Barpeta district is Muslim and the most spoken language is Bengali which is 61.74%. of the people speaks Bengali and 36.14% of the people speak Assamese.

The number of people that lives in rural areas are 134581 from which 68991 are males and 65587 are females with total of 26196 households and the people living in the Urban area is 8264 from which 4245 are males and 4019 are females with 1649 households.

In the 2016 Assembly Election, Sukur Ali Ahmed of the INC party won the election by securing 47.25% of the total votes. Monowara Khatun of AIUDF party became the runner up with 25.98%. Gunajit Adhikary of the BJP secured 23.59%. Shafikul Hoque of All India Trinamool Congress secured 1.99%. The Independent candidate, Surjya Mallique secured 0.58% and 0.61% of the vote went to the option "None of the Above".
