Assam Community Surveillance Programme launched in Tinsukia

TINSUKIA: In order to strengthen the surveillance system enhancing testing capacity to break further the chain of transmission and containment of COVID-19 epidemic, a house-to-house survey for the identification of all SARI (Severe Acute Respiratory Infections) and ILI (Influenza like Illness), JE, Dengue, Malaria and all types of fever began in Tinsukia including the villages, riverine or char areas and tea gardens. The programme named as Assam Community Surveillance Programme (ACSP) was launched on Thursday in the district.

Accordingly, on the day of launching the program, the health screening teams all over the district covered 23 villages covering a population of 12214, 5 tea gardens covering 968 and in urban 12 wards were covered having population of 4860 by doing house to house survey. The total number of persons screened was 5602 in one day. During the survey, there were no cases of any SARI, ILI or any type of Fever found at the periphery. This household survey will continue up to June 7, 2020 and it will cover all the households of the district, stated a press release.

Meanwhile, proper steps have been taken to screen the persons entering Tinsukia from nearby states and other districts. There are various check gates comprising of proper medical team with thermal scanner in all the entry points of the district from Panitola to Dirak and Shantipur. In Tinsukia a total of 1843 persons were screened and entered Tinsukia through inter-state border, informed Monjit Borkakoti ADC (Health).
