LAKHIMPUR: Bridge, an Assamese movie, produced and directed by Kripal Kalita, has been selected for screening in the South-East Film Festival to be held in the USA and Light of Film Festival, Pinewood Studio to be held in London.
The role of the protagonist of the movie is played by a Lakhimpur teenager named Swapnil Nath, inhabitant of No. 1 Majgaon, Phoolbari-Bokanadi area in the district. He is the son of Karuna Krishna Nath, secretary of North Lakhimpur Press Club, and Hiramai Chutiya Nath, professor of TTN College, Lakhimpur. Swapnil is the artiste of Abhinava Theatre of Lakhimpur too.
Notably, the movie depicts a true story based on a real incident that took place during the flood. It reflects the havoc and tremendous devastation caused by flood and the invincible optimism of the flood victims against the destruction caused by the natural disaster. The story highlights that some people lose their close ones due to flood while some others lose their homes and their belongings. Yet, they are fond of the river, a tributary of the mighty Brahmaputra, which flows by their households. They use the river like a resource which gives them satisfaction, an undefined happiness. The emotion of a section of people is involved with the river. It is the theme of the story of the movie.
The director himself wrote the story, screenplay and dialogues of the movie. It was made under the banner of 'Kristipathar' and has been jointly produced by Ram Kumar Das and Sabita Devi. Other actors and actresses of the movie are Shivarani Kalita, Partha Pratim Borah, Anindita Das, Kripal Kalita, Dhanjit Sarmah, Sashindra Bhuyan, Biswanath Biswas, Suren Mahanta, Rina Borah, Ajit Kumar Bhuyan, Bhupen Sarmah, Rohini Kumar Deka, Gopamoni Gogoi, Raju Bhorali, Dipen Chutiya. The movie was shot in various locations in Dhakuakhana, Sonari Chapori, Jonai, Guwahati and other places of the State.
