Coronavirus: Allahabad Bank Machkhowa Branch "Prohibited" with Immediate Effect

The District Surveillance Officer of the Kamrup Metropolitan district will collect samples from each of the officials of the Allahabad Bank Branch immediately and also ascertain further contacts with the Officials.

After it came to light that some Covid-19 positive patients have recently transacted money at Machkhowa Branch of the Allahabad Bank, it has been "prohibited" with immediate effect by the administration "in the interest of maintenance of public hygiene and prevent further spread of the COVID-19 virus."

An official notification has announced that the authority of the Branch will suspend all kinds of activities immediately and the officials of the branch will be home quarantined till their swab results are made available by the Health department.

It has been further informed that the District Surveillance Officer of the Kamrup Metropolitan district will collect samples from each of the officials of the Allahabad Bank Branch immediately and also ascertain further contacts with the Officials of the branch.

The order, it may be mentioned, has been made under the regulations 'The Assam COVID-19 Regulations, 2020 and came into effect at 10 am earlier today.

The violations of this order will attract action under the provision of 'The Assam COVID-19 Regulations, 202", "The Disaster Management Act 2005", "The Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897", and other relevant sections of the law.

It is pertinent to mention here that yesterday, 7 Mumbai-returned people who were quarantined in Guwahati city had tested positive for the virus.

The Assam Government, meanwhile, has so far counted 86 infections and 2 deaths. 40 people have been discharged after treatment, while 43 cases are active; 1 person has been migrated outside the state thus far.
