SILCHAR: It was no doubt an emotional farewell for Barnali Sharma, Deputy Commissioner of Cachar. She has to make way for Keerthi Jalli, the new incumbent. In fact, ever since Sharma took over the charge a few months ago as Deputy Commissioner, not for a day she was off her duty. Ever dynamic and active, she led a hectic life. And dexterously, she has handled the pandemic crisis, earning kudos from all sections of people. She became popular for her inspiring words, gentility and politeness. Being media savvy, she was quite intimate with the journalists, print and electronic. It was most unfortunate that due to some faux pas elsewhere in connection with the arrival of Ajmer Sharif pilgrims, she has to leave, observers think. People of Cachar will always cherish her memory.
While bidding farewell at a simple function in presence of Keerthi Jalli and other officials, Barnali Sharma thanked his retinue of officers and staff, acknowledging their help and cooperation in running the administration. Keerthi Jalli, in her speech at the function held in the office of the Deputy Commissioner on Saturday, hoped similar help and cooperation from all concerned.
